How Are Video and the Web Connecting You – While We Stay Apart?

A lot has changed in a very short time. Recent events have millions of us staying home. While we do, the ways we’re connecting with family, friends, school, work and more look and feel different than they did only a few weeks ago.

Enter the prevalence of video and web calling. Neither is new. People have been using both for personal and business reasons for years. But, both are dominating the days and hours we’re spending away from others right now, for a good reason: They make it simple to stay connected from almost anywhere you have an internet connection.

Think about it. In the past two weeks, have you:

  • Made or received a video call
  • Hosted or attended a virtual meeting
  • Joined a group video chat
  • Learned through a virtual class
  • Worked out with a streaming fitness class
  • Made or had a virtual doctor’s appointment
  • Engaged with a livestream

These are all everyday realities for many of us now. And, thanks to the readily available tech tools, the internet – and the integration of the two – we’re all able to do a lot more to connect with each other than we could just a few decades ago.

So, as we forge into the weeks ahead, don’t let staying in get you down. Remember all the ways you’re connecting with the people in your life. You may be at home, but you’re not alone.
