Tech Tips for Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

It might be tough figuring out the best way to keep your New Year’s resolutions, but with smartphones, smartwatches, and other technology, it’s never been simpler to get the support you need. Here are some tips that will make things a little easier.

Set a Reasonable New Year’s Resolution That You Can Measure Progress Toward

All too often, people fall into the trap of making a sweeping New Year’s resolution that would require superhuman concentration to accomplish. That’s why it’s important to pick a resolution that is narrow enough to achieve in a single year but also ambitious enough that it’s worth pursuing.

Once you’ve set tangible goals, you can easily track them on your smartphone using a list app or even a simple notepad feature. Picking measurable goals makes it easier to assess how you’re doing along the way. For example, rather than planning to be a better runner, decide on a specific time you’d like to run your favorite distance.

Find Apps Built Around Your Specific Goals

Not only can tech help you track your progress, but you might also be able to find an app or service built to help with your specific goal. For example, if you are looking to limit screen time for your family, you might want to download the AT&T Secure Family App on your device, as well as its companion app for your children’s devices. These apps also allow you to set content filters and track your kids’ locations. You may also want to get the AT&T Smart Home Manager app and use the parental controls feature to block home internet access on your kids’ devices. You’d be amazed how many apps are out there. Chances are good there’s one that was built with your specific goal in mind.

Keep Yourself on Track with Simple Reminders

Pretty much every tech device has a simple reminder system at this point. This can be a great way to keep yourself on track. For example, if you want to do a better job of staying hydrated, set reminders to have a glass of water. For more difficult tasks like exercising, the key is to make your reminders hard to evade. Don’t just set reminders on your phone. Put them on everything from a smart speaker to a personal laptop. You don’t want to make yourself feel guilty, but you do want that extra little push for days when you’re not really feeling it.

Good Luck and Happy New Year

Hopefully you found these tips helpful. Making better use of your tech can make achieving goals a little easier, but ultimately it comes down to you. Don’t just want to do something, actually do it. Make this your year.
