Celebrate Pride Month with AT&T

If you’re a longtime employee or customer, you might already know that AT&T is passionate about accepting people for who they are, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. Because we added sexual orientation to our nondiscrimination clause in 1975, making AT&T a safe place for lesbian and gay people to work, we like to think of ourselves as an original corporate ally.

Some other proud moments as an organization include establishing one of the very first employee resource groups for LGBTQ+ employees in 1987 and being one of the first corporations to provide domestic partner benefits to same-sex partners in 1998.

With Pride Month coming up, now is a great time to start thinking about ways to celebrate Pride and turn up the love for the LGBTQ+ community. Here are a few ideas:

Get involved in The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is a non-profit organization that provides crisis counseling and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth. Sometimes, being able to connect to someone who truly understands can be the turning point in a young LGBTQ+ person’s life.

As a corporate partner, AT&T’s financial support, products and services as well as volunteers have recently helped bring their text and chat services on-line at 24/7 levels. This is a truly life-saving organization. There is no better way to celebrate Pride Month than to get involved.

Watch LOVELOUD Festival

LOVELOUD is a music festival which raises funds for organizations supporting LGBTQ+ youth well-being. Created by Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons in 2017, AT&T returns as the title sponsor for the second year. The festival is June 29, 2019 in Salt Lake City. But if you don’t live in Salt Lake, don’t worry. No matter where you live, you can always help share the message of the festival in your daily life: Real love is always unconditional, and that’s what all youth deserve.

Connect to Turn Up the Love

Turn Up the Love is AT&T’s “always-on” platform connecting you to original entertainment, editorial and experiences, all designed to drive the conversation of LGBTQ+ acceptance and inclusion.

Participate in your local Pride

It’s inspiring to see how the Pride movement has grown. All over the world, there are parades, concerts and celebrations of love and inclusion. That means that no matter where you live, there is a good chance there is a local event for you to join in on the celebration.

No matter how you decide to celebrate Pride Month this year, the important part is that a community of LGBTQ+ people and allies can come together to protect, celebrate and honor a message of inclusion and pride. Happy Pride Month!
