WatchTV: a new way to stream entertainment from AT&T

The way we watch movies is evolving, big time. Gone are the days of piling in the station wagon, trekking to the local drive-in, and hanging that tinny speaker on your window. Remember traipsing through the aisles of the corner video store and grabbing a DVD and bucket of popcorn for family movie night? Or ordering a movie online and waiting patiently for the mail carrier to deliver your red envelope a few days later?

Now, every night can be movie night. No need to travel anywhere or wait for the mail. WatchTV, a new streaming video product from AT&T, brings you instant gratification on your smartphones, tablets, and streaming devices.

AT&T realized early on that people, who use their devices to watch live TV and movies on demand, burn through high-speed data at a fast clip. This isn’t a problem with unlimited wireless data plans, like AT&T Unlimited & MoreSM and AT&T Unlimited & MoreSM Premium. And, they both come with WatchTV as a benefit for no extra charge.

Already have an AT&T Unlimited &MoreSM plan? Then you already have access to WatchTV. Just activate it and you are ready to stream.

What is WatchTV?

WatchTV is the newest AT&T product to stream and watch video through your internet connection.

WatchTV has:

  • More than 30 live channels
  • More than 15,000 shows and movies on demand
  • 72-hour rewind option
  • Music streaming

You can stream WatchTV on your:

  • iPhone or iPad (requires iOS® 10 or higher)
  • Android smartphone or tablet (requires Android® 5.0 or higher)
  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Apple TV
  • Desktop or laptop with Chrome web browser (requires version 59 and above)

Things to consider

Your internet data speeds may slow down when the network is congested. If you get the AT&T Unlimited &More plan, your streaming video quality will be similar to a DVD (about 480p). That shouldn’t be a problem when you’re watching a show on a small screen like your smartphone or tablet.

If you have the AT&T Unlimited &More Premium plan, you’ll get 22GB of high-speed data per line each month—plenty to watch high-definition shows on a large screen. If you use all your high-speed data for the month, your streaming quality will change to standard definition. If you are still on the fence, then test the waters out through a free trial and see if it fits your entertainment needs. To learn more and ask your own questions about WatchTV, go to the AT&T Community Forums.
